NIT Warangal campus is about 2 km and 12 km away from Kazipet and Warangal railway stations respectively. National Institute of Technology (formerly Regional Engineering College) Warangal is the first among RECs that was set-up in 1959 as a joint venture of state and central Government of India. Over the years, the college has evolved itself as a premier Institute imparting top quality technical education leading to B.Tech degrees in eight branches of engineering, M.Tech and Ph.D. programs with various specializations. To give further impetus to the technical education, the Government of India upgraded the RECs to NITs and conferred the status of Institutes of National Importance.
About the Department :
The Department of Mathematics is a highly reputed Departments which functions with excellence as its motto. The Department was started in the year 1959 along with other Engineering and Science Departments and has established itself as a dynamic centre for academic and research activities. The Department consists of well experienced faculty. It is the only NIT recognized as a QIP Center for pursuing Ph.D. program among all the NIT's. In addition to the teaching of courses in Mathematics for B.Tech. and M.Tech. Programs, the Department offers two P.G. Programs, M.Sc. (Applied Mathematics) and M.Sc. (Mathematics and Scientific Computing). At present, there are 20 Research Scholars are working for their Ph.D. The Department has a full-fledged computation laboratory to meet the requirements of the M.Sc. students, research scholars and the faculty. We are proud to say that the Department has produced more than 100 Ph.D.'s
